He's done it!!
Winning his last match 60,63 Palm won all four matches at the Thai National Selection allowing him to be a member of this years 2015 U14 Thai National Team.

In a situation where greater emphasis is placed on results, Palm was able to work on elements he needed to focus from his previous match and later apply them towards the next. It was great to notice how mentally stronger he has become allowing him to compete until the very end!

Not to boast, but among the representing juniors, Palm had the best tactics and most attractive playing style. This accomplishment marks another advancement to his level. By achieving this goals, he will now focus towards his next goal with good planning and scheduling.  %E4%BB%A3%E8%A1%A8%E3%83%A1%E3%83%B3%E3%83%90%E3%83%BC.jpg
Here are the chosen 2015 U14 Thai National Members.

Preparation for this event started one year ago.

Early last year Palm had incurred a terrible sprain during practice. Therefore the importance of specific training methods and stretching needed to be strongly emphasised. Palm also felt additional strain physically at that time where he received physiotherapy and massages by our recommendation. Caring for his body and intaking protein for proper recovery was learned and started at this stage.

Furthermore, a much anticipated racket switch to the HEAD SPEED. We truly appreciate the support from HEAD.

Speaking of technical development, four months ago a lot of emphasis on angle shots and being able to use the court wider was practiced. Afterwards, combing the technique with tactics already learned was thoroughly repeated in practice.

The last month before selections he participated in the allout beat 2015. Additionally, he was able to practice with Thai professional player Issarrow on numerous occasion. Palm was adapting to faster heavier balls and developing greater mental strength.

This time around I oversaw Palm for two days. The topic on the first day was the 3rd ball after the serve. We worked on this quite a bit the day before. Even Palm himself while warming up before getting onto the court felt that he wanted to practice this aspect of his game which meant he himself is 'aware' what needed to be worked.

What has greatly improved after the allout beat 2015 was his slice and service ability.

The advice which Pro Goichi Motomura gave to Palm about playing against players who are hard hitters couldn't have come at a better time.  Being able to mix up the slice to create opportunities. Figuring out how 'not' to allow the opponent to close in or how to close in yourself. It was very clear that his playing style had changed, and when I asked Palm directly about his change up he had spoken it was due to Pro Motomura''s advice.

Additionally, receiving advice from Pro Suzuki Takao about his toss position on his serve allowed Palm to serve with greater confidence. Palm had a higher percentage of points won from second serve and his percentage of holding serve had gone up compared to previous. We truly appreciate the advice from both pros'!koki%20%26%20Palm.jpg

And finally, practicing together ever since they were little travelling together to tournaments, playing doubles together, and playing  singles against each other multiple times Koki Matsuda is a BIG influence to Palm's development.
Unfortunately while in Thailand, Koki is unable to compete for the National team or become a representative therefore we wish Koki to do his best once returning to Japan. It would be a dream if one day they both represented their countries and played against each other.

As always I would like everyone to continue to do their best, receive positive stimulus from one another, and play competitive matches with mutual respect.
